July is almost over, but there’s still a ton of fun things to do in NYC, even if you didn’t make any plans. The summer is flying by and we should enjoy every last drop 0f it. I’m usually home in NYC for the summer, especially the summer holidays. I like to go with the flow, and I find myself winging it from the 4th of July on..lol.

If you’re an NYC resident or a visitor, there’s always plenty of last minute events you can attend, or just hangout at one of the number of great beaches  and parks in this fabulous city. A lot of my summer weekends are spent at a BBQ or cookout. But, if I’m not invited to one, I’m perfectly happy grabbing a bite at one of the thousands of amazing eateries spread out across the five boroughs.

NYC is so diverse and has so much going on, that it was really difficult narrowing down the list. Since things change so much in this city from year to year, I wanted destinations that have withstanded the test of time. The one thing that I really love though, is a great multitasking venue. A place where one can find a really good bite to eat all while socializing, or participating in some sort of physical activity.

Below I’ve listed three super fun things that you and your friends or family can get into. If you all want to have a great time, but didn’t make  any plans, I got you covered.  So gather all your peoples together, slather on the sunscreen, and let’s hit the road.

Highline

The NYC High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets, on Manhattan’s West Side. It spans from Ganesvoort St. and Washington Street in the meatpacking district of manhattan, to 34th street and 12th ave. The park has so many distinctive and magical areas that are just amazing. The designers of this space have incorporated trees and foliage beautifully along with wood and concrete installations. The views of the city are majestic, and you’ll feel like you’re on a mini adventure..with numerous nooks and crannies to explore. While exploring you can stop at any number of the yummy eateries and grab a bite. A few of my faves are Melt Bakery at 22nd street, La Sonrisa Epanandas at 15th street and Mao Ma0  at the High Line food kiosk. The High Line is a must visit if you take a trip to NYC. If you live here, get your butt on over there..what are you waiting for. Its the epitome of the term “concrete jungle”.

Pig Beach

Now the only way to describe Pig Beach is it’s  “an awesome cookout meets beer garden”. Pig Beach isn’t a beach at all, but is a cool indoor and outdoor space that is perfect for hanging out with your crew..all day…in the summer. The BBQ is awesome, and they have some of the best craft beers and cocktails around. My personal fave on the menu, is the Smoking’ Turkey Breast. If you live in NYC and haven’t been, this venue will quickly become your new summer go to spot. But wait, did I mention that it’s in the fabulous borough of Brooklyn..well it is. Which makes it even more appealing. While visiting NYC don’t be shy about branching out and experienceing all the good that the outer boroughs have to offer. Also feel free to reach out to me with any questions about navigating your way around Brooklyn. I was born and raised there, and it’s absolutely amazing.

Domino Park

Domino Park is a 5-acre public park located along the East River in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It’s one of the newer fabulous additions to Brooklyn NY. The park is built on the site of the former Domino Sugar Refinery, and is a tribute to the diversity and resilience of generations of Dominos workers and their families. Some of the features are an elevated walkway, playground, Fog bridge, dog run and beach volleyball just to name a few. I was actually in attendance on the opening day in 2018, and I was blown away by how gorgeous and interactive this park is. One of my fave things at this park, is the wooden lounge chairs..so cool. They’re perfect for just basking in the sun, and people watching. Domino Park also boasts its own a Tacocina which serves food inspired by Mexican flavors, that’s open all week. There’s something for everyone here.

Well guys, I hope you enjoyed this post. Whether you’re in NYC or any other city this summer, get out and explore. Try something you’ve never tried before. Be adventurous. Theres fun to be had around every corner.
