Meal Prepping, Parachute Dresses

Meal prepping is some thing that I started doing last year. Although it worked wonderfully, with the onset of Covid-19 and the stay at home order that ensued, I haven’t been prepping at all. Just recently it hit me that now would be the perfect time to get back into it. Meal prepping does require a certain amount of planning and preparing before the prepping, but if you’re looking for a good starting point into a healthy lifestyle, then its definitely for you.

Some of you might have thought that meal prepping is just for those of us who want to lose weight, but it’s not. Its a way to eat healthier, all while freeing up extra time during the week to do other things that we love. It’s also a great way to save a few dollars. That’s a win win situation. There are so many food combinations to create, giving us tons of options for core meals and snacks alike. The meals that you decide to prep are totally dependent upon what you’d like to eat for the next few days. Also, like I said earlier its not about weight loss, unless that’s your goal. But it should definitely be about healthy clean eating.

One of the most important things that meal prepping requires is multiple storage containers. You’ll need a container  for each day that you plan on having a meal or snack prepared. Some people use glass containers, and some, like myself us bp free plastic ones. I take my meals on the go a lot, and find that these work far better for me, because they weight less.

Choosing a particular day of the week that you can do all your prepping is key. I choose to prep all my meals on Sunday. I’ll decide what I’ll like to have the day before, and shop for any ingredients I need. Then I’ll wash, chop blanche or do any pre prep that needs to be done, prior to cooking or assembling. One of the things that I love about salad is, it makes me feel like I have my own private buffet. I dice chop and place various ingredients into their own individual containers. Then I’ll toss them together when I’m ready to eat. Salad prepping just works better this way for one of the obvious reasons..wilting.

When you start on your food prepping journey you might get a bit bored with your menu after awhile . I suggest you visit sites like Bonappetit or Sweet Peas and Saffron. These helped me come up with, and remember various foods that would not only prep well, but are delish also.

I hope this post encourages you guys to give meal prepping a shot, if you haven’t already. For all you guys that know it works, and have fell off like myself, let’s jump back in the game. It’s one of the best things that I’ve chose to implement into my lifestyle. It makes managing my time, and eating healthy much easier. #mealprepforlife
