Stress, no matter what form it comes in, can alter the quality of our lives. It’s also known to be one of the key factors for various life threatening illnesses. Women today have so many irons in the fire. We’re mothers, wives, employees, entrepreneurs and super friends..just to name a few. We carry unbearable loads at times, and most of the time we’re totally unaware of the weight..until we crack under the pressure.

What I’ve learned from experience and from other women, is that tending to self is essential to preservation, and helps us keep it all somewhat together. When we practice healthy emotional and physical care, it helps balance our lives, and we can better handle stress. The goal is to nourish our mind and spirit with healthy practices, the way we feed our bodies healthy food. So how do we do that?

1.Remember God’s in charge. The first point of defense from stress is knowing this. Don’t try and take over what’s not in your hands. God not only has your back, but has every aspect of you covered. Now I’m not saying to omit putting the work in. What I’m saying is be aware of the things you can control. As for the things you can’t “let go, and let God.” We must also love ourselves like God does, and be forgiving and gentle with ourselves.

2.We must value ourselves, and practice rituals that honor not deplete us, and keep us from being our best. After achieving major accomplishments, give yourself a break. Find some time to reflect and recharge before jumping head first into your next big thing to do. Give yourself permission to rest. I know that’s easier said than done, and it’s something that I struggle with, but I’m aware that its something I must learn to master..if I want to live with less stress in my life.

3. I can’t say enough about how important it is to keep a grateful heart. Gratitude changes everything. Whenever we’re overly concerned about any situation that we’re encountering, we should always remember that it could be worst. So if we’re experiencing any trials and tribulations, big or small, that means we’re alive and circumstances could change. If we are grateful for what we have physically and what we can learn from the experiences in our lives, we make space to receive better.
