I promised that I’d share my experience posting to instagram everyday for one month, so here we go. On the last day of November of 2020 I decided that I wanted to do something out of my norm to close out the year. You know that finish the year strong thing. Last year was so challenging overally, and I learned and grew so much from it, I thought why not challenge myself a bit..kinda like a dare. I like the word dare because lord knows posting to instagram everyday, and my other personal challenge, that I won’t get into right now, was like extracting a tooth without an anesthetic..lol. But I got through, and I’m better and more enlightened because of it.
The first thing that I would like to make clear is personally I never felt that posting to instagram everyday is the, or only way to grow ones account. I believe that it definitely can be a strategic part of an overall plan though. What I did learn is that posting to Instagram everyday, keeping up engagement on my own post, and engaging with the community that I’m a part of, is down right brutal. I don’t have a ton of followers, so I must engage heavily for my post to reach my community and beyond.
It was all good for the first week or so, but by the end of week two a little fatigue started to set in. I was so concerned with getting that post out and engaging, that other areas of my blogging business suffered a little. I found myself not writing for my blog, which I feel is the most important aspect of my business and brand. It’s the part that I own, and I never want to loose site of that. As a creative I know that I also need time to read, be inspired by other creatives, and recharge. Although growing my brand is a top priority, I work a full time job, love to cook and most importantly umm, self care.
Some of you might think, well damm it’s only a picture that she’s putting up on a social media platform, but for others you know how stressful this platform can be. Especially when you’re approaching it from a business perspective. It appears that my follower increase was minimum, and as time went on it was increasingly tougher to keep you guys engaged. I guess you all started getting sick of me…lol. That made me start to really question is this worth it.
One key thing that I have learned from this experience is that if you’re gonna be on Instagram constantly, do take the time and deep dive into the platform. Learn everything you can about how it works, and seek-out accounts that inspire you. This is all part of the growth process for me. The more I stepped outside of my comfort zone on the platform during this challenge, the more growth I felt personally, which I know will help me to grow my brand in the future. There’s no foolproof way, or one stop shopping method when it comes to instagram. It’s multi leveled, intriguing, mysterious and tons of fun. It’s also one of the most beneficial platforms around for businesses.
I conclude with this. Posting to Instagram everyday..for thirty one days straight was definitely a challenge for me, and I don’t plan on that ever being my thing..ever. I’m just saying. But, the experience was awesome because it fell under that ” you can do anything if you put your mind to it” mantra, and got my creative juices flowing. It also gave me a good look at which posts perform the best, and clarity around understanding my analytics. At the end of the day, I guess this all proves that consistency really does pay off.
I hope this post was helpful in someway, and gave a bit of insight into posting everyday on instagram. Please leave any comments or questions that you have below, and I will surely answer them.

This is great and very insightful. Your post are always on point. I couldn’t imagine anyone getting sick of you. I couldn’t wait to read this to see what your thoughts were. You are a beast for doing this and handling everything else in your life. Pushes me to be better! Thanks for sharing.
What a great read!! I really enjoyed your post !!
Thank you so much! Please stop by again!

I absolutely agree and do feel it can be brutal and takes away from blogging! I was experimenting my first year and plan to focus on my blog more in 2021! Thanks for sharing your experience! It has truly helped me!
Hey Nancy! Yess..we gotta focus more on our blogs. Instagram can be snatched from us at the blink of an eye. Instagram is an amazing tool, but we must make it work for us, all while keeping some balance. I’m so happy the post resonated with you.
xoxo
I agree with you 100%! Posting every day is daunting. And I’m not an IG expert so I’m sure there is more I could be doing to grow my brand/followers. But putting yourself ‘out there’ is a major challenge in and of itself to ones self-esteem. Finding the right outfit, deciding whether to post a family (personal) pic or not, waiting for someone to ‘like’ the post…exhausting!!
I applaud you and bow down to what you’ve accomplished!! #rockstar
I am with you on not doing it again lol! I need a day away from the app to be present with family and a day where I just engage with everyone 100%. Great read!
You did Good. There is no way I could post something everyday. . . . Congrats! Hope 2021 Blesses you Mucho.
Great read Elaine. I use to post everyday but found that it could be daunting. It took away a lot of my me time. As for me , it was not a good feeling. The best way I faced this process was to post whenever I felt like ..I did not want to post to feel forced to do so. Engaging with my loyal followers is what and who I focused on the most. BTW- Never get tired of your post ! You are a gem!!✨✨✨
Thanks for sharing! I’m a small business person too, and working on posting more regularly. It’s. tricky balance feeling true to yourself, and trying to spur business…especially with so much going on in the world! I really saw myself in this post (so please don’t feel a need to respond, I know you are busy!). The important thing is we’re learning, experimenting, trying new things 🙂 The best content will always be the stuff that’s most unique to you, I think. Thanks for your hard work 🙂
