So guys, for the absolute longest time I’ve been promising myself a nice relaxing staycation. I finally took one. I booked myself a gorgeous room at what is now one of my favorite hotels in NYC, the Boro Hotel. The best part about this fabulous hotel is that it’s located outside of Manhattan in Long Island City, Queens.

Luxury Hotel LobbysLong Island City is an active industrial area, and this hotels cool, clean aesthetic definitely mirrors the whole warehouse loft vibe. I loved it. The high ceilings, huge beams in the middle of the floor and wide open layout was so refreshing. It allowed me to move about freely, and not trip over all the unnecessary things I brought with me..lol.

My room included a cute little balcony, that was the perfect place to sip my morning tea. The neighborhood view was a nice bonus, it was just right for me. When booking,  you will also have the option of choosing a room with a city view of Manhattan..so gorgeous. One of the selling points for me when booking a hotel is white walls and light colored floors (no carpet please), and my room had both. Everything was so clean. The bed was very comfy, but just a tad bit too soft for me, although I love to cozy up in a softer bed, my back prefers a super firm bed.

If you’re anything like me, the bathroom is uber important, and minds was perfectly polished..that made me a very happy camper. But wait, can we talk about one of, if not the main reason why I booked this particular room..the studio? This amazing free standing tub right here. Although I have a tub in my apartment, it’s the small, low modern type of tub. This baby here reminded me of the huge tub in my childhood home. The ones that sat on four legs, with claw feet. I knew I wanted to luxuriate, so I bought along one of my favorite bubble baths, and some fresh eucalyptus leaves to give the room a tropical scent. I spent a lot of quality time in that tub. It really put the stamp on my staycation.

When it was time to eat and have a little fun, I chose to stay at the hotel. Being familiar with the area, and knowing that there’s tons of great eateries around (I’ll List a few of my Faves below), I truly had no desire to leave the premises. The hotel has plenty of options for breakfast, brunch and dinner. Guest can snag an amazing pizza at the Boro Hotel, if they desire. The hotels onsite pizza restaurant Beebes met all my needs.

It offers a variety of wood-fire, thin crust pizzas, pastas, and other new American dishes, as well as “large plates” like burgers, chicken milanese, seafood, and hanger steak. Small plates include wings, meatballs, calamari, and mussels. I definitely indulged a bit.

Hotel Bars, Queens Hotels,Hotel EateriesAlthough it wasn’t in my plans to shake a leg or hang out, there’s a super cute rooftop bar that opens most evenings around five pm..weather permitting. I also heard from a very reliable source that on any given evening, one might catch some live entertainment, or a DJ spinning on the ones and twos. Sounds like a party to me.

My entire experience was absolutely great. The room was perfect. The hotel staff were friendly and gracious..plus my meals were on point. For those of you guys who are visiting from out of town, this hotel would be an amazing choice. There’s a subway station less than a five minute walk away, and it’s only two stops until you’re right smack in the middle of Manhattan.

The hotels proximity to the city is perfect! It’s really great if you’re the adventurous type, and must ride the train in every city you visit..like myself.  At the Boro Hotel you get the chic Manhattan vibes without the price tags, along with a wonderful urban feel. What more could one ask for. You won me over Boro Hotel. I’m a true fan now. Mission Staycation accomplished!
