Summer summer, summer time..I just sit back and unwind. It’s summer in NYC, and I plan on enjoying every last drop of it. Each year around this time I say to myself, Elaine this summer you’re going to go hard, go deep within all the layers of NYC, and experience all of its wonders and joys. Then I end up spending the better part of the summer heading somewhere else, or plotting on my future travels.
As I was walking down the street the other day, or maybe I was standing on a corner at the light..I seen a sign that read “You live in NYC, start acting like it”. Wow! It was like a slap in the face, a good slap though..if there’s such thing as one. A love tap..lol. I thought to myself, this message was just for me. There’s no place on Gods green earth that has more to see or do, than this little slice of heaven. Now I know you might think I’m a bit bias because I live here, but we didn’t get the reputation for being the greatest city in the world by my opinion alone…I’m just saying.
I love New York in its entirety, but I have to admit, the five boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Bronx) have my heart. From Times Square, to the streets of Soho, Harlem USA, and Brooklyn, the neighborhoods are so unique and full of diverse culture. This city is steeped in history, and theres adventure lurking around every corner..literally.
In the next couple of months, as I get reacquainted with my fabulous city, my plan is to share some of its magnificence with you all. Have you traveled to NYC? Do you live here? What do you love most about this city? What parts have you visited, or lived in? Please share.. I would love to know.

You my dear is in a New York State of Mind. Having lived in Brooklyn, Jamaica Queens and Rosedale I received a very cultural upbringing, But never got to enjoy the City as an adult. I am sure there is much to do and see and look forward to your take. Enjoy. . .

I have found you and your blog a couple of days ago and I love it!! My first time in NY was in 1991, I missed my plane to Madrid because of a storm flying from SF to NY and I had a whole day in the city. My first impression was to be in the center of the world, it was so fast so full so brilliant !! And I couldn’t share it with anyone, travelling alone after babysitting in SF, no mobile phones, no social media..I can remember that feeling. I think I spent that day with a big smile in my face. Few months ago, I was able to spend a week to celebrate my 50s. Where else could I go? Enjoy your luck 😘
Hi Gracia
I’m so happy you stumbled upon my blog. Omg! That sounds like a real adventure you had. The great part about it was, you enjoyed every moment without social media, etc. Thanks so much for sharing that story. I hope to hear from you again
