Black owned Restaurants, NyC Restaurants,

Just like I’ve been a New Yorker all my life, I’ve loved dining out in this fabulous city. I enjoy a large variety of foods, and would say I have a very eclectic palette. New York is a city where you can find a dish that reminds you of home, no matter where you’re from on this earth. This city is not only a melting pot of people, but also a melting pot of cuisines.

One thing that I’m very proud of is the diverse types of delicious foods that you can indulge in from black owned restaurants here in NYC. Sometimes when people think of  black owned eateries, they only think of the amazing southern style dishes, like mac and cheese, fried chicken, collard greens, peach cobbler..etc. Now I would be remiss if I didn’t add a few southern style  restaurants to the list, because umm who doesn’t love some good old comfy food every now and then.

In my best places to shop while in NYC post, I suggested that while visiting the city please take some time to venture out of Manhattan, and check out the other boros. Well the same applies for restaurants, maybe even more so. Some of my favorite restaurants are in Brooklyn hands down. So without further ado, lets get into this list.

Brooklyn Chop House

Has some of the best steaks, pork chops and red velvet cake. You can even experience cheeseburger dumplings..all in a gorgeous setting. Yums.

Field Trip

If a quick one bowl healthy meal is what you’re looking for, this is your place. Grab a bowl with everything from salmon and pineapple fried rice to brisket and chipotle black beans. They even have a vegan raspberry hibiscus swirl soft serve ice cream. How about that?!

Massawa

Specializing in Ethiopian and Eritrean food, Masswa has been serving up delicious dishes for decades in NYC.

Chocolat

I’m just gonna say one thing about this place. Red velvet pancakes..thats it.

Extra Virgin

Mediterranean food tweaked to be unusual and delicious. Try their roasted artichokes with pancetta and hollandaise, or the mushroom crushed chicken with pea risotto in truffle broth. Need I say more.

Brooklyn

Peaches

Serving Classic American food with a nod to the south. One of my favorite restaurants hands down. Just go..you won’t regret it.

Bleu Fin Bar & Grill

Just like the website implies, Bleu Fin is an upscale seafood dining experience infused with a tropical Caribbean flare.

Black Nile

Black Nile is a seafood focused soul food spot. Try their loaded fries topped with shrimp, crab meat and cajun cheese sauce. You’re welcome.

Foot Prints

Wonderful Caribbean casual restaurant a block from the beach in Coney Island. Be sure and try the famous rasta pasta.

Bronx

Bricks & Hops Beer Garden

Perfect hang out spot in the Mott Haven section of the bronx. Try the Hennessy Colada if you have a designated driver.
