48 hours in Martha’s Vineyard isn’t the most ideal way to experience the island if I’m being honest, but I was more than happy to take what I could get this last weekend. When I got out of bed Saturday, and I heard it would be approximately 90 degrees Sunday in NYC, and on most of the east coast, I knew it’d be the perfect time to do something I haven’t done in a long time, go bike riding.

With all that has happened this past year, I feel like we all owe it to ourselves to live our lives to the absolute fullest. So with this in mind, I thought why not book a flight to Martha’s Vineyard, one of the most gorgeous places in the country, to do a little bike riding. The next morning I was on my way. When I arrived the weather was exceptional, and the scenery, straight out of a novel.

The best way for me to describe Martha’s Vineyard for those of you whom have never been, is picturesque, laidback and cultured. Although there isn’t a whole lot to do there, the things that you can do are divine. The beaches are beautiful. The food is great, and the island is steeped in history. The stories of the super rich and/or famous that own homes on this piece of US soil is beyond intriguing. I’ll just say the Kennedys have an estate there, and the Obamas purchased a $12 million estate on the vineyard back in 2019.

Although I’d love to go on and on about how intriguing Martha’s Vineyard is, let’s get right into where I stayed, places to grab some good grub and a few things to do during your stay in Martha’s Vineyard, whether it be for 48hours or more.

Where I  Stayed

Edgartown Inn

56 N. Water St.

Edgartown , MA 02539

(508) 939-4005

The moment I stepped in the front door at the Edgartown Inn, I  knew I’d made a great choice. First of all the Inn looked exactly how it looked in the pictures, if not better, and the staff was amazing. I’ve always been obsessed with details and  personal touches, like preparing a fresh smoothie for me when the breakfast area is all out, and that’s what the staff did. It’s the little things for me. Plus breakfast is included in your stay at the Edgartown. The modern farmhouse style, and convenient location in the heart of Edgartown Village is everything. The Inn is both peaceful and relaxing, yet steps away from restaurants, boutiques, the Chappaquiddick ferry and the beach. Its also about a 10min ride to the historic town of  Oak Bluffs.

Where I Ate

Biscuits

26 Lake Ave

Oak Bluffs, MA 02557

(508) 693- 2033

Biscuits is a quaint family run, all day breakfast and lunch restaurant in the heart of historic Oak Bluffs. The menu is chef-driven and highlights seasonal ingredients. The dishes are simple, but handcrafted and delicious. Comfort food at its best. I went for brunch and enjoyed every single bite. When you go, try their Linguica Hash and the Lulu’s Twisted Stuffed French Toast. It’s French toast dusted with cinnamon powdered sugar, stuffed with cream cheese and your choice of blueberry, strawberry, or Chocolate Chips. You’re welcome.

Carousel Ice Cream Factory

15 Circuit Ave

Oak Bluffs, MA 02557

All I can say is don’t be fooled by all the imposter ice stores on the island. Carousel Ice Cream Factory might be the absolute best ice cream that I’ve ever tasted in my life. The amazing variety of in house made flavors is insane. I inhaled a scoop of coffee Oreo, along with a scoop of fresh strawberry ice cream, topped with chocolate sprinkles. I’m drooling just thinking about it.

19 Raw

19 Church St.

Edgartown, MA 02539

(774) 224- 0550

19 Raw is what I call a foodies dream. This gem of a restaurant is housed in a renovated home with patio seating..nestled away in Edgartown. They have an extensive menu, with everything from caviar to duck pot pie, and an awesome variety of oysters of course, it goes along with the territory. If you can only have one thing off of their mouth watering menu, I suggest you indulge in the scallop bowl which consists of king crab fried rice, jumbo scallops and malango. The thought alone makes me want to fly out to the vineyard just to eat.

Among The Flowers

17 Mayhew Lane

Edgartown, MA

508.627.3233

Super cute breakfast and brunch spot, where you can snag everything from a really good smoothie,  quinoa bowls, awesome sandwiches, quiche and much more.

What I Did

Inkwell Beach

83 Seaview Ave

Oak Bluffs, MA 02557

Inkwell beach is a sandy strip of public beach with a lifeguard, jetty and views of the ferry terminal. Although it’s not the most beautiful beach on the island, it’s wonderfully unique, and its existence evolves around black history and the black experience on Martha’s Vineyard. I say its a must visit while on the vineyard. Besides it’s in the heart of Oak Bluffs within walking distance from dining, shopping, and entertainment. In the link to the beach, I’ve included a wonderful article that shares a bit of the beaches history.

Marthas Vineyard Tours And Transports

Whether it’s your first time visiting a city or your tenth time, if you want to learn all the intricacies about a city, and see some of its most loved sites, as well as its lesser know ones, book a tour with a great guide. The guide for this 3hr Martha’s Vineyard tour was extremely knowledgable, entertaining and thorough. I learned so many things that I never knew about this amazing island, including a few island secrets and scandals. I mean who doesn’t like a lil scandal every now and then.

They have a large selection of bikes and accessories for rental, and the best part is they will deliver your bike to wherever you’re staying on the island. Now that’s service.
